Dear friends of Ireland in Russia,
As the Ambassador of Ireland to the Russian Federation I
would like to say hello and introduce myself to you. My
wife Anne and I are delighted to be in Moscow, and very much
looking forward to our time here.
I know that the Irish community is very active throughout Russia,
and the countries of Central Asia to which I will also be
accredited (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and
Uzbekistan). I want to assure you that we will do our very best to
be as responsive as possible to your requests as they arise,
particularly in the consular field. In this regard, do of course
feel free to contact us at any time.
I believe that your experience, from the perspective of living,
working and doing business in Moscow and beyond, is invaluable to
us. I hope that we can continue to work closely with you, and that
we are able to make a real impact on Russian–Irish relations during
my time here.
The site contains useful links to other websites of organisations
which specialise in aspects of relations between Ireland and
Russia, including in the areas of trade and tourism. I would
refer visitors in particular to the website of Enterprise Ireland which is
the Irish Government Agency specialising in trade promotion and
whose Moscow office is situated within the Irish Embassy.
The Embassy is particularly keen to assist Russian travellers to
Ireland. We are hopeful that the recent re-commencement of a
direct air connection between Russia and Ireland will increase the
flow of visitors in both directions. I would refer our Russian
visitors to the website of Tourism Ireland which
is the Irish agency specialising in tourism promotion.
The Embassy is determined to provide an efficient visa processing
service to assist travel to Ireland. The Visa Office aims,
subject to the fulfilment of visa conditions and available
resources, to process visa applications within 10 - 15 working
days. Business visas are processed within 5 -
8 working days. Details of the visa process, are
available here. In addition, a
new Visa Waiver programme has been launched, which means that
citizens of certain countries may travel to Ireland on a valid
UK General C Visa subject to certain conditions. For details of
the Visa Waiver Scheme, please click here.
